The McTeggart School of Irish Dance was established in 1939 in Cork, Ireland. The first director was Peg McTeggart, the eldest of four sisters who were all champion dancers. The school soon spread throughout County Cork due to the efforts of younger sister Maureen McTeggart Hall. In 1954, Maureen and her family immigrated to the United States, bringing with them the art of Irish dancing and introducing it to the Western Region of the United States.

The McTeggart School of Irish Dance soon spread to numerous areas within the United States, as Maureen continued to travel and promote Irish culture. Maureen first brought her love of Irish dance to Texas in 1984. Currently, the McTeggart School of Irish Dance has school locations in Arizona, Colorado, Kentucky, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas (both Houston and North Texas). The North Texas location is currently under the direction of Aurora Averill, TCRG and Nyssa Milburn, TCRG. We enjoy performing across the DFW area and have dancers compete both locally and internationally.
