Driven by guitarist Michael Logan and fiddler Shelly New, River Driver originally emerged in 2020 out of a shared love of Irish music and folk music. Starting off as a duet, it only took a year for River Driver to find their footing and welcome drummer Danny Rasaily to the roster — and the rest was history.
Showcasing their signature style of Irish acoustic folk rock influenced by Great Big Sea and Blaggards to The Town Pants, The Elders and beyond, River Driver’s debut EP “Traces” was released in 2023, featuring guest musicians John Cleghorn (electric guitar) and Alan Thompkins (five-string banjo). With a reputation for taking audiences on a raucous, foot-tapping, beer-fuelled journey packed with screaming fiddle solos set to masterful percussion and dynamic guitar, River Driver have earned their place as a standout live act too, with a diverse and growing fanbase across the country.
With a host of achievements under their belt, from playing at the North Texas Irish Festival and featuring on The Irish and Celtic Music Podcast to securing a monthly residency at the award-winning Texas pub The Celt and an annual slot for the official Texas St. Patrick’s Day festival in Shamrock, River Driver are now preparing for their biggest year yet. Their first live album, Flanagan’s Shenanigans, launched in March of 2024, paving a way for a slew of live shows throughout the rest of the year.
